sailing

7th June 2014
11a.m. to 4:30p.m.

This is a great opportunity for everyone to try out sailing for free, check out the facilities and find out more about our sport. Just bring along some soft-soled shoes and a sense of adventure!

Attenborough Sailing Club is located between Nottingham & Derby. The club enjoys the use of 65 acre Conneries Lagoon adjacent to Attenborough Nature Reserve. We pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere of our club and new members are always welcome! Members enjoy a variety of racing, cruising and social activities.

Visitors to this event will be given an opportunity to go out on the water as crew, and maybe even try their hand as helm if conditions are suitable. There will be several boats of different types on the water to try. Buoyancy aids will be provided, but visitors should wear clothes they don’t mind getting a little wet.

Experts will be on hand to advise and answer questions about sailing in general, e.g. boats, equipment, clothing, etc. They will also help with specific queries about our club e.g. how to join, fees, days/times for sailing, etc.

Refreshments will be available on the day.

There are no entry fees, although refreshments will have a small charge.

Sailing is a wonderful blend of art and science, skill and feel, fun and challenge. In working with the natural elements, every outing is a different experience. If you have been tempted to try dinghy sailing in the past, but have been concerned about taking that first step, then come along to Attenborough Sailing Club – it’s a fantastic way to enjoy the great outdoors.
