The UK is one of 28 member states of the European Union.   The UK is divided into 12 regions, and each has a certain number of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) depending on the population of that region.

The East Midlands Regional Constituency is made up of the following areas: Derbyshire, Derby, Leicester, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Nottingham and Rutland.

This election determines who will represent the region in the European Parliament for the next five years.
